THE CAST
The open call for headshots brought in well over 200 entries
from across the country. With the script calling for a full
spectrum of actors of different genders, ethnicity and ages,
very specific character profiles were posted on the film.org
web site along with psychological profiles to help the actors
prepare for their auditions. After
considering the hundreds of applicants for each role, candidates
were contacted via email or phone and auditions were held
in PA in November of 2007. Over 100 actors were auditioned
for the 2 lead and 6 supporting lead roles. Callbacks were
not an issue. We were working with-in a time frame regarding
our main sound stage and had to start shooting the week after
final casting decisions were made. After an intensive review
period the selected actors were contacted, congratulated and
the talented cast of Harts Ridge
was formed.
THE
CREW
The
core crew was formed in about a one-two week time-frame. Ads
were placed on film.org and backstage.com. Our DP - Kyle Matthew
Waldbusser, 1st AD - Matthew Cohn, SFX Genius - Mike Harvey,
and script supervisor Jennifer Westervelt, were all in from
the moment go. The rest of the core crew worked on the film
as their schedules permitted. We had several hair & make-up
artists, sound crew and PA's. The filming was completed within
3 months, on location in Philadelphia Metro areaWorking with
Kyle, Matt & blood Mike was a great experience. I only
had to give Kyle an idea of what I wanted to see, via storyboards,
verbally, or act it out, and he would just get it. Kyle always
offered up alternative creative suggestions and made the shot
happen. Matt - always there with something we needed even
before we even screamed for it. He was one step ahead of everyone.
Matt was often !st AD, Key Grip, Gaffer, PA, (all at the same
time) and could do almost anything. Major Kudos to Kyle, Matt
and Mike Harvey (blood mike) of tdefx.com, who I've known
since the filming of "In Justice" directed by Alexander
Ballas back in 2002. Mr. Harvey is man of many SFX skills,
and having Mike work on this project was indeed, excellent. |
